SEVERAL STATES are TAKING ON AGENDA 21 and ICLEI!

This is a great article from the Humble Libertarian (he got it from here) on states against Agenda 21:

The New Hampshire House of Representatives voted to ban UN Agenda 21 polices.

This legislation will prevent local, county and state governments from adopting the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) programs.

ICLEI is a UN agency that provides “local” community plans, software and training to towns and cities that pay their dues. Other private organizations in league with ICLEI are:

• National League of Cities
• International City/County Management Group
• National Governors Association
• American Planning Group

I blogged on the original bill that failed in committee earlier this year.  And ICLEI is clearly unconstitutional as a confederation or alliance with foreign governments and it conducts foreign policy.  But Rep. Anne Cartwright has determination to do the right:

“I know it is totally against our Constitution from reading the U.N. biodiversity assessment,” Rep. Anne Cartwright (R-Alstead), the primary sponsor of the bill. “It’s through local initiative that it is being implemented in bits and pieces to erode our property rights.”

Here is what other states are or were doing:

NH is not the only state to pass anti-Agenda 21 legislation.

In Kansas a resolution was approved that quashed Agenda 21 from taking over the state.

Tennessee also resolved an anti-Agenda 21 resolution that failed to receive Governor Bill Haslam’s signature.

The Arizona House of Representatives voted down a ban that resembles the NH ban.

Louisiana and Alabama have resolutions against Agenda 21 that are still under consideration.

Of course the left makes fun:

Agenda 21 is a United Nations plan for sustainable development that encourages resource conservation and preservation of open spaces.

Right-wing extremists from the John Birch Society to the NH Tea Party Coalition have latched onto the program as evidence of a worldwide conspiracy to destroy private property rights and implement a one-world government.

OH NO, it’s the evil John Birch Society again!  And the TEA PARTY!  Lions and tigers and bears OH MY!  Nothing in this article refutes any of the arguments made by activists and bloggers like me.  But read the bill, since the progressives were good enough to cite it:

No agency or department of the state shall implement programs of, expend any sum for, be a member of, receive funding from, contract for services from, or give financial or other forms of aid to the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI), and its derivatives, in furtherance of the United Nations program known as Agenda 21.

I love it!  Time to vote YES YES YES!  KICK ICLEI OUT of NEW HAMPSHIRE!
